SAP to Active Directory Sync: Keeping Data Where It Belongs

In many companies, HR data originates in SAP while technical data like email address and UPN lives in Active Directory. The problem: without synchronization, these data sources drift apart.

The Challenge

HR changes (name, department, cost center) weren’t automatically transferred to AD. And AD changes (email, UPN) didn’t flow back to SAP. This led to inconsistencies and manual maintenance.

The Solution

We implemented a bidirectional sync between SAP and Active Directory. Matching is done via employee ID. HR data flows from SAP to AD, technical data in the reverse direction. The sync also handles historical data and future changes – for example, a name change effective from a specific date.

The Result

Every system contains exactly the data that belongs there. No more manual maintenance. Consistency across all systems.
