File server share access requests had been running through the IT department for years. Every time: submit a ticket, wait, IT checks, IT sets. A process that was inefficient for both IT and the business units.<\/p>\n
IT was the bottleneck for all access requests \u2013 even though they couldn’t actually judge whether access was justified. That decision belongs to the business unit, not IT.<\/p>\n
We built a self-service model with resource owner delegation. Employees request access via the portal. The resource owner \u2013 the person responsible for the share \u2013 approves or rejects. Azure Automation handles the technical permission assignment. There’s also a quarterly report: with a single click, the resource owner can remove users who no longer need access.<\/p>\n
IT is out of the business decision. Access requests are processed faster. And unnecessary permissions are regularly cleaned up.<\/p>\n
